Taylor Trammell’s Three-Run Blast Powers Astros Past Blue Jays, 7–2

Hayden Wesneski allowed two runs over six innings, and Houston answered Toronto’s tying rally with four runs in the fifth inning.

The Astros delivered the response they needed Tuesday night at Daikin Park.

A night after seeing a six-game winning streak end, Houston used six steady innings from Hayden Wesneski and a decisive three-run home run from Taylor Trammell to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7–2.

Trammell’s fifth-inning blast to right field turned a one-run Astros lead into a four-run advantage, helping Houston take control after Toronto had briefly tied the game.

Wesneski Settles In

Wesneski allowed two runs on four hits across six innings in his second start since returning from Tommy John surgery. He walked two, struck out four and generated seven ground-ball outs.

Toronto did not score until the fifth.

Andrés Giménez opened the inning with a single, and Myles Straw followed with a triple to deep center that brought Giménez home. Straw then scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at 2–2.

Wesneski prevented any further damage, and Houston’s offense immediately gave him the lead back.

Bennett Sousa followed with a scoreless seventh, while Enyel De Los Santos worked the final 1⅓ innings without allowing a run.

Houston Breaks Through After Yesavage Exits

Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage worked two scoreless innings before exiting the game. He did not allow a hit, walked one and threw 27 pitches.

Houston broke through against reliever Chad Dallas in the fourth.

José Altuve reached scoring position before Yainer Díaz singled to left, putting the Astros on the board. Trammell then scored when Cam Smith singled to left; a throwing error by Toronto left fielder Jesús Sánchez allowed Smith to take second.

The Astros held a 2–0 lead after four innings.

Toronto Ties It—Then Trammell Answers

Toronto’s two-run fifth erased the early Houston advantage, but the tie did not last long.

Yordan Alvarez reached and scored in the bottom half, and Altuve beat out an infield single to third base that drove in the go-ahead run.

With Altuve and Christian Walker aboard, Trammell turned on a pitch and sent it out to right for a three-run homer.

The swing made it 6–2 and ended Dallas’ night. He allowed six runs on seven hits and four walks in three innings.

Houston added its final run in the seventh, when Díaz singled to center to score Walker.

Altuve Leads a Balanced Astros Attack

Altuve finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Trammell went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a walk.

Díaz added two hits and an RBI, while Smith collected an RBI single. Walker scored twice, and Alvarez reached base twice, scoring the first run of Houston’s pivotal fifth inning.

The Astros drew seven walks and produced nine hits, but the defining sequence was their immediate answer after Toronto tied the game. Wesneski gave Houston a quality start, and Trammell supplied the swing that made sure it turned into a win.
